  • Check the scale and baseline. A global average, a county trend, and a neighborhood risk map answer different questions. Note the period, units, and reference climate before comparing results.
  • Treat projections as scenarios, not forecasts. Results depend on future emissions, model assumptions, and the time horizon you select.
  • Read the documentation. Pay particular attention to uncertainty, data coverage, and whether a map shows present conditions, change by a particular year, or a long-term outcome.
